Hey Everyone, sorry about the lack of posts. My 9-5 has been kicking me in the behind the past few weeks. But the good news is, I’ve got quite a few posts lined up. So let’s get to the first one on the list….

Perhaps it’s at this point that I hang my head in shame as I retract a former statement that went like this: “OMG OLIVE OIL EDGE CONTROL IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I’VE COME ACROSS IN A WHILE”… Yup, I am taking all that back because I think I have found something even more amazing for your edges.

This is by a brand called Syntonics, I don’t really have much information on this brand only that it is a high-end product which works really well with all hair-types.
I actually bought this BEFORE I bought the stuff by Olive Oil, and because this wasn’t what I was after, I didn’t really use it as much. But once I got the Olive Oil and had used that for a few weeks, I found it lacked something. It just did not stay on the hair as long as I liked, it never got me through a full day at work.

So I thought I’d go BACK to the Syntonics one and see how it faired in comparison. And I must say, it so much better than the Olive Oil one. I know I made a big song and dance about it before, but honestly this Syntonics stuff is really good.. for my hair anyway. We all know with beauty/cosmestics/hair products it’s all down to personal preference.

This is a RUBBISH Picture I know. Here’s what is says “Provides shine and  ultimate frizz-free control for sleeked-back hairlines and short tapered nape areas. Directions: Apply a small amount and smooth with fingertips or styling comb/brush”

One very noticeable difference is that the Syntonics one is much much easier to apply. It’s not as solid as the Olive Oil one, not as sticky and it absorbs quicker. It also has a ‘minty’ scent to it, but there is no warm-sensation (when applied) that typically goes with such scents, which is odd but doesn’t bother me much.

With it being of a high-end brand, it is more expensive than the Olive Oil stuff.

SYNTONICS EDGE DEFINE, Hairline Smoother – N1880

I bought this from a beauty supply store/salon in Lekki Phase 1 called ‘Stylez’ (A post shall go up about this store in the coming weeks)

Also wanted to say thank you to the ladies that replied my Olive Oil Edge Control posts with their products they use for their edges. I had no idea there were quite a few brands with their own ‘edge control’ stuff on the market! 🙂

Oh and in case you were wondering what happened to my Olive Oil Edge Control, it has found a new home on my sister’s vanity table. It works really well for her. It’s like I said, these things are a matter of personal preference 🙂

What do you use for your edges?

One of my absolute favourite indulgences in London was Frozen Yoghurt…. Summer or winter, I’d still get some Fro-Yo. And my number one Fro-yo love is SNOG!. Snog’s fro-yo is 100% fat-free and you could get various toppings and drizzles on it.

Fro-yo is available in LAGOS!! I was soooooo happy when I discovered Sweet Kiwie. I discovered them on twitter, the L’Espace by LPM twitter account kept going on about ‘Sweet Kiwie fro-yo’, I was initially confused because I thought they were talking about sweet kiwi flavoured fro-yo… d’oh!.

They’ve got a variety of toppings.Cherries, Strawberries, Sweets

More Toppings… Peanuts and M&M’s

Colour me weird, but I tend to love my fro-yo with no toppings at all. I just don’t want anything interfering with my ‘taste’ experience and I always get the ‘Natural’ flavour.. Is it called ‘Natural’, dunno :s.. But the plain one anyway. Everyone who knows me knows I am THE fussiest eater on the planet. A chinese restaurant back when I was in university, actually put a new number order on their menu. I still remember it, it was ’96A, Special fried rice extra spicy no veg, no pork, extra shrimps and chicken’ lol. The regular fried rice was a number 96 on the menu. Ok, but back to Fro-Yo

Here’s how I ALWAYS order mine. Maybe one day I’ll get some toppings…. doubt it. Apart from the plain flavored one, I’d also recommend the Watermelon flavor from Sweet Kiwie.

small cup (6oz): N650
Medium Cup (8oz): N850
LARGE CUP (12oz): N1300
Toppings (Any two for): N100
Waffle Cone: N700
Waffle Bowl: N900

Nothing beats a 100% GUILT-FREE Indulgence! So head over to L’Espace by LPM for some Fro-yo goodness!

Hey Everyone! 🙂 Last month my girls and I decided to go check out a few places in Ikeja. We went to Spa Lavender, Indigo Boutique (posts on these soon) and BNatural

I heard about BNatural Spa a lot when I just moved back to Lagos, I even got a mani/pedi at the one in Abuja when I went out there to register for my NYSC. But I never managed to get to the one in Lagos until now.

BNatural Spa sits on a very large property in GRA Ikeja, Lagos. They’ve got a hair salon, nail room, a makeup studio, a barbers’, treatment rooms and a Moroccan Hammam building.

As I was walking around a lovely lady came up to me and asked if I was ok. At this point i was in the makeover room, so I assumed she was a makeup artist.

But she turned out to be the Manager and I when mentioned my blog to her she was so helpful and asked to give me a private tour.

This is the manipedi area. I love that this area is solely dedicated to getting your nails done. I was also very impressed to see that they offer the Shellac/Gellish manicure. So all you ladies that live on the mainland you can get your Shellac manicure here for N2000! I got my nails done and was happy with them.

Incase you were wondering the second picture in the collage above is the ceiling in the mani/pedi area. I thought it was so pretty, had to take a picture.

The Barbers’

The wash basins at BNatural are sooo weird. They are almost like flat beds. Which means you are practically laying down on your back while you get your hair shampooed, don’t know about you guys I found this really weird and a little uncomfortable. But it was something new, I guess… For me anyway.

This wash basin is in the barbers’ by the way, but they’ve got the exact same in the salon.

I got my hair done at the salon. Nothing major, just a wash and blow-dry. But since I had a weave I was asked to sit under the hair dryer for a while, so the wefts could dry. After 30 minutes I started getting agitated, because the hairdryers are a little funny. I had to ask the stylist if they were dryers or steamers. Cos they looked like steamers, but he said something about them being ‘American Dryers’ or something. But they weren’t really drying much and I was getting more impatient by the second. After a while I just asked for my hair to be blow-dried, didn’t care if the wefts were dry or not. I’d had enough of the ‘dryer’, that wasn’t exactly drying anything.

The ‘Culprits’..lol… Can you see said dryers here on the right. Funny looking, no? Still think they’re steamers(…. Just messing! :p)

Treatment Room

Colonic Room. Both my girls got colonics when we went back the next weekend. I was too chicken, couldn’t do it! But watching the ENTIRE process was hilarious and disturbing. I’ll just say we definitely ‘over-shared’ a LOT that day. lol

Outdoor Pool (at the top) and indoor chill out areas (at the bottom).

BNatural have got a lot of beauty treatments on their books. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they offer laser hair removal (verrrryyyy tempted to give this a try). If you want to know what sort of treatments they offer just give them a ring, I’ll provide the contact details at the end of this post.

All in all my visit to BNatural was lovely, I couldn’t stop ‘oohing’ and ‘aching’, it was THAT visually appealing. Can’t say much about the treatments as I haven’t had anything done yet except one, and I’ve got a review on that going up soon.

You guys that follow me on twitter would remember I tweeted about this and said I’ll do a post on it well….. here it is!

This little ‘tub of wonder’ has been nothing but amazing for me. I first came across it at Blush salon, the stylists use it to tidy up your edges once they are done. My girls from the States are very familiar with it, seems like it’s more popular Stateside or something, cos I never heard of it up until at Blush. But anyways this product does all it says on the tin!

The directions on the back should be followed exactly. I find that this product works better when applied with your fingers. I’ve tried using a little brush/toothbrush to apply and smooth it down and it doesn’t work as well as I’d like.

It’s a clear solid product in the tub, tried to capture it in this shot but I think I failed lol. I believe why this product works much better when applied with the fingers is because the heat from them while working it in melts it and makes it much easier to apply.

It doesn’t smell like most hair ‘jam’ on the market these days, this has got a ‘sweet’ scent to it. I’m crap at describing scents, but just know this smells quite good. I have used this EVERY morning since I got it, which was about a month ago or so.

I bought mine from Shoprite at the Palms Shopping Mall, N699

It’s also sold at Blush Beauty Store (Blush Salon’s store), N1200

Also before I bought this brand of Edge Control, I bought a different one by Syntonics which works just as good. If you want me to do a review of that as well just let me know and I will. Just incase you have a hard time getting your hands on the ORS one in lagos 🙂

What other Edge Control-type products are out there?

This is a little something I’d like to add to the blog. I thought i should separate my ‘Lagos Discoveries’ from my ‘Purchases’. I’ll tell you all about my discoveries in one post and then show you stuff I get from them in another. But I will never show you stuff from a store I haven’t blogged about yet? Got it? Ok

So here is my first ever solo HAUL post! *excited* I’d rather call it a mini-haul to be honest lol

This is the reason I went in search of Megacare in the first place. Well, not this particular brand but  Gilette Venus Divine Goddess Shaving Gel. I cannot seem to find this anywhere in Lagos and also could not seem to find a suitable replacement either. Until now!

I honestly do not know if this is for guys or ladies, it does have a faint ‘zing-y’ smell that men’s shaving stuff usually have. It’s not overpowering at all, and you only get a whiff of it suddenly… and then it’s gone. lol. Or it might just be my paranoia.

Now THIS! This is what I was excited to get. My friend has got the most perfectly filled-in eyebrows and I asked her what she used randomly one day. She said ‘Spiked’ by MAC. I personally don’t have to do much to my brows, except thread them. I have got the odd space here and there and I usually fill mine in with some eyeshadow using a slanted brush and set with brow gel.

I have seen quite a few reviews of this product in the beauty blogosphere and after seeing them in action on my friend. I thought.. why not! So far, no regrets! :). But I still prefer my method, or maybe I just need to get used to this.

So there’s my first haul. Let me know if you guys would be interested in more posts like this. Also let me know if you ever visit Megacare and tell me what you got! Till next time

One day while reading up my timeline on twitter I saw someone tweet something along the lines of “I loove MegaCare on Awolowo Road, I’m such a beauty junkie” and someone retweeted it with the reply: “Yeah, me too, but their prices are ridiculous”. All my brain computed was Mega Care. Beauty Junkie. Awolowo Road. Need to go there, FAST! lol. I tweeted from my personal twitter account asking if anyone knew where MegaCare was on Awolowo Road, like what landmark was around it. Because we all know, house/building numbers don’t work in Lagos. Driving down a street looking for Number 5, u go from 19, to 18, 17, 16, then 13 next thing you see 146! what the…? lol. The things we go through around here, haha!!

Anyways, no one replied my tweet, as always (there’s a rant in there, but I shall not digress). One random day while I was heading to a friend’s house off Awolowo Road, I saw this white pristine building and it had one of those electronic ‘scrolly’ things and the words read ‘Mega Care’, I was like Bingo!! I planned to go back on Sunday, because parking off Awolowo Road during the week is a total nightmare, Sundays are saner.

I did a little dance when I got out of my car! I was THAT happy.. I’m such a loser

I am so happy that my expectations were met. It is a well-stocked shop.

They’ve got some MAC products in there, reasonable priced as well. It is obvious that the shades and items sourced were carefully thought-out and limited to the popular products amongst ladies in Nigeria. They’ve got the popular eyebrow pencils in ‘Spiked’ and ‘Stud’. Studio Finish Liquid Foundation, Studio Finish Powder, Lip Liners and other items.

They also have an OPI stand in there, with quite a good collection of shades
This Aromatherapy Stand had stuff from The Body Shop, Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret

I actually went in to look for some shaving gel, because I just can’t seem to find my usual one out here (Gilette Venus Divine Shaving Gel). I secretly prayed they might have it stock, unfortunately they didn’t. But they did have other good alternatives. I’ll do a blog post on the items I got.

This made me do a little squeal! They’ve Eylure lashes in there. I only wear strip falsies (don’t like the individuals) when I’ve got a big night out or to events, just generally when I feel like I want to dress up. And Eylure’s are my favorites, MAC comes in at a close second.

They also got a few of the Girl’s Aloud lashes as well. Hint: Cheryl’s are the best (in my opinion)
OPI Nail Polish: N2200
lol! Pathetic pricing I know, that’s the only one I remembered.

96 Awolowo Road,

I believe I have listed quite a few beauty/skin care supply stores on here. But I still have a couple more to share and discover! 🙂
What other lush pharmacies have we got in lagos?
