Once again, BeautyInLagos is partnering with International Nail-Tech and Educator, Mary Negron, to run a number of training sessions while she’s out here. For anyone who missed out on the last one we put together in May, here’s another chance to sign-up. We have Private (hands-on) and Group (look-and-learn) sessions, so there’s something for everyone. The Private sessions kick-off from the 19th of September and run through until the 14th of October, while the Group trainings start on the 3rd of October and run until the 9th. So there’s more than enough time to prepare and budget.

The private sessions have been designed to be hands-on, that is you get to practice as you learn. Everyone is welcome to sign-up for the Beginner level classes, but Intermediate & Expert levels are strictly for seasoned professionals who wish to learn new techniques or brush-up on their skills.

SEPTEMBER 19th – 22nd

SEPTEMBER 25th – 29th

OCTOBER 5th & 6th

OCTOBER 12th & 13th

As always, these will be look-and-learn sessions only and students are not required to bring in any materials. The training sessions have been structured in such a way that we are able to cover the crucial nail techniques and also accommodate different skill-set levels. Everyone is welcome to sign-up for the Beginner level classes, but Intermediate & Expert levels are strictly for seasoned professionals who wish to learn new techniques or brush-up on their skills.

All skill levels will be covered each day.

The 6th Edition of the Lagos Makeup Fair is this weekend Saturday & Sunday 17th – 18th June, 2017, and if you are a true beauty enthusiast you don’t want to miss this. I say this every single time I share about this event, that there is literally NOTHING like it. This is the 6th edition and the event continues to evolve and grow, year after year. I attended the first ever edition back in 2012 (read about that here), and to see how it’s expanded in terms of how many vendors exhibit and also the content they churn out, makes me so happy. So what else can you expect apart from this edition, apart from the obvious stocking up on your fave products and discovering more brands? Keep reading

The event has expanded to also include an Indie & Wellness exhibition section too. So apart from shopping makeup brands, you can also discover and shop some all-natural/organic beauty brands too.

There will be a gele tying competition with loads of prizes for the winners. This competition will hold on Saturday 17th June @ 2pm

There will be a competition for Makeup Artists as well, encouraging makeup creativity. This competition will hold on Sunday, 18th June.

So there will be loads of activities going on, vendors will also be offering flash sales off items. My personal advice, if there is a product you need to discover, repurchase or stock up on Lagos Makeup Fair is the best place to indulge because literally every single vendor will have discounts or offers running.

Date: 17th & 18th of June, 2017

Venue: Classique Events Place

Address: 7A Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos

Time: 10am – 7pm (daily)

Attendance Fee: N500

Follow The Makeup Fair on Instagram for additional information and updates: @TheMakeupFair

We have put together another round of discounted Nail-Tech trainings. These will be look-and-learn sessions only and students are not required to bring in any materials. The last time I organised a group training session with Mary Negron was back in August 2016, and the feedback was incredible. This time we have spread out the training sessions to accomodate different skill-set levels and further discounted the fees.

The classes will be taught by Mary Negron. Mary travels internationally as an educationist and also runs her own salon in Augusta, Georgia. She is a certified Nail Technician with over 20years experience. Having worked with a host of international brands as an official educator, Mary brings with her a wealth of knowledge.

After a brief hiatus the first quarter of the year, my favourite beauty event is back! Our next event will take place at ColorsByRL Lounge in Lekki Phase 1 on Sunday 30th of April, 2017.

We took in all the feedback received last year and made a few necessary changes and adjustments. The  idea behind the series stays the same.. FREE MANICURES… but we have revised certain things in order to make our guests a lot happier.

You can now pre-book all discounted services offered by the beauty space hosting a particular #TGiFreeManicures event. Anyone who’s attended will know that in addition to FREE manicures, there are also heavily discounted services on offer on the day. For example, Oriki offered guests N2,000 blowdrys and N3000 pedicures on the day. And these were a HUGE steal. But over the course of the series, we discovered these additional services actually delayed the turnaround time for guests, and as such kept them waiting a little longer than we liked. Yes, we have cocktails and sometimes canapés to keep you occupied, but no one enjoys waiting that long. So we have introduced a pre-booking process, where guests can book the discounted service in advance, by purchasing a voucher from BeautyDirectoryNG platform after which they will be contacted to choose their preferred time slot. They will also get their FREE manicure! This does not disrupt the flow of free manicures and free manicures are not going to be pre-booked. They will be done on the usual ‘first come, first serve’  basis. So, as always, arrive early!

From the feedback we received, the day of the week and time proved to be a huge crutch for some people. So we decided to have a couple #TGiFreeManicure events on Sundays. The idea is for ladies who’ve had a long week, Monday through to Friday, to come in before heading home to chill with friends, relax, sip some cocktails and get pampered all at the same time. But we have decided not to limit this indulgence to a particular day of the week.

As always the #TGiFreeManicures series of events is  RSVP-only. The size of the Beauty Space hosting an event, determines the number of guests we are permitted to allow RSVP, and the link to RSVP is made available to BeautyClubNG subscribers, first.

The link to RSVP for the next #TGiFreeManicures event will be sent to BeautyClubNG subscribers next week Monday, 24th of April. If you’d like to receive that link as well, please subscribe by clicking here

Can’t wait to see you all next week!

The Guerlain house since 1828 have been master perfumers and created iconic scents, as Jacques Guerlain said “We create perfumes for the women we admire.” Thierry Wasser, the House’s Perfumer, is the fifth generation of Guerlain Perfumers. Now, in 2017 Thierry Wasser through his many journeys masterfully creates The ‘Mon Guerlain’ with notes such as Carla Lavender, Sambac Jasmine, Album Sandalwood and Vanilla Tahitensis blended to create a fragrance as intimate as an invisible tattoo.

I was recently invited down to the Federal Place Hotel in Victoria Island for an exclusive event celebrating GUERLAIN. It was a beautiful night as Guerlain presented an ode to modern feminity while celebrating the new iconic fragrance, Mon Guerlain. A remarkable mix of such women in Nigeria were honored by the Guerlain house and I was extremely humbled to be one of such women. We each received a personalised bottle of Mon Guerlain… which translates as ‘My Guerlain’. How sweet!

Mon Guerlain is a tribute to today’s femininity – a strong, free and sensual femininity, inspired by muse Angelina Jolie; who lives through different facets of her life and has done so amazingly.

Mon Guerlain is available at the Beauty Bar at the Palms Mall and all Essenza stores nationwide.

Yes you read that title right, Trayciees Pieces (TP) & The Beauty Atelier (TBA) are moving to Abuja for 3 whole days… Beauty in Lagos is literally coming to Abuja. We ran a little poll via twitter and discovered the services these brands provide are some of the most sought-after in Abuja, so we are bringing them to you.

They will setup shop in 3 different locations around Abuja from Thursday 30th of March till Saturday 1st of April. All 3 days will offer something different, with the final day ending with a FREE live demo by both brands. Have a look at the full event details below:

They will also be taking clients as well.

When Nnenna of Youtopia Beauty mentioned she was putting together a Skincare Masterclass, I was like FINALLY. I call Nnenna the ‘Product Guru’, she literally transformed my skin just from her product recommendations. I love the fact that she is so willing to share her knowledge and holds nothing back. I also really like that she’s passionate about skincare and usually ends up being a guinea pig, so almost always recommends and sells products that she’s tried herself. So I was very sure the event would be nothing short of amazing!

Who else attended the Youtopia Beauty Skincare Masterclass a few weeks ago? Don’t think there was a single person in attendance that didn’t want more! It was so informative and engaging. The information shared was quite literally gold!

It was an educative, interactive and fun session as speakers gave valuable insight on the importance of skincare.

Nnenna Okoye (CEO of Youtopia Beauty) gave a presentation highlighting the different skin types, how to determine what beauty product is the right fit and the importance of having a proper skincare routine.

Lola Maja of The Beauty Insider addressed the role make-up plays in protecting the skin and the importance of finding the right make-up products that are unique to the various skin types.

Leslie Okoye (Founder of Cookie Skin) and Stephanie Kalu-Uche (Founder of Stephanie Nicholas) had a session centered on building a beauty brand. They also spoke on caring for the skin, noting that beauty routines may differ from person to person.

Dr Aire of Airesthetics gave an eye-openeing presentation on the use of Botox, including how it can be used to correct impaired eye-sight.

Guests were treated to free consultations, tasty nibbles, a beauty goody bag and giveaways courtesy of Sleek Studio and Youtopia Beauty.

It was definitely a great event and Youtopia Beauty has a few more scheduled this year, we will be sure to keep you updated.
