Hi Everyone,

This post is about my second discovery from Beauty Africa Exhibition

Remember this post? If you read the comments you will see EXACTLY why I had never typed up a post like that, despite the constant emails and comments to do one. Apart from the fact that skincare is a topic I’d rather leave to the experts, nearly all the products I use are not available to buy in Nigeria. And I don’t understand the point of sharing products and then not being able to tell you where you can get them in Lagos, my blog is called Beauty In Lagos for a reason. But I had to cave and just lookatit, LOOK! Don’t you feel like I dangled a cherry in your face?.. Sigh

Anyway, this post isn’t about me beating myself up it’s actually good news, one of the products I use is available in Nigeria. Biologique Recherche (BR) is a french professional skincare brand that is raved about by a lot of prominent experts in the skincare industry. You know what they say about the French, when it comes to skincare right? As Eat Drink Lagos will say, “They sabi the work” lol!

BR is a professional skincare line used for treatments in spas, but they do have a retail aftercare line as well, the most popular product being the ‘P50 Lotion’ range. I actually purchased my bottle from Barazahi Spa in Lekki Phase 1, but I assumed they had it because they used BR products for all their facial treatments, little did I know the actual brand was in the country.

I asked the ladies at the stand and was informed that Apples & Oranges Salon & Spa are official distributors of Biologique Recherche in Nigeria.

Hey Guys,

Remember I mentioned I had two discoveries from Beauty Africa Exhibition to share, well this post is about the first one.

I attended all 3days of the exhibition and had walked past this stand the first day without even giving it a glance. Decided to go in on Day 2, and boy was I glad I did. Nectar Beauty Hub is a beauty supply outlet located in Lekki Phase 1. They only offer wholesale services so their target clientele are salon and spa owners or businesses. Their product lines include Beauty Equipment, Nail Care, Skin Care, Electrical Products, Hair, Makeup & products for Men.

I was really impressed with the products they had in stock. For one, they are the official distributors of Orly in Nigeria and have a host of brands under their umbrella including:, Seche, Ardell, GHD, Cala, Babyliss, etc. Click here for a full list of all the brands

They had a lot of stuff that got me a little too excited, like the industrial-size jug of nail polish remover.  I kept going on and on about it that Stella had to ask if everything was ok with me…lol. I was unashamedly bummed that they don’t do retail, there’s a LOT of stuff I could get for myself. I think I may actually purchase some stuff from them, just that I’ll have a lot more than I actually need, but the beauty-junkie in me says it’s EXACTLY what I need!

They also sell Salon furniture and fittings which you can see to the left of the picture above. They’ve got hair station chairs, massage beds, hair care appliances (curling iron, flat iron, hair dryer, etc.). They can literally furnish and fit your entire salon/spa.

I know a LOT of salon owners who ship their supplies in from outside the country, I literally dragged a couple of them that I bumped into at the exhibition to the Nectar stand. I can’t imagine getting some supplies from Nectar won’t save them some coins! So if you’re a Salon/Spa owner, won’t hurt to send them an email and request their price list. That’s the only thing that got me a teeny-tiny bit confused was the fact that they did not have their pricelist ready to share with potential clients, they could’ve closed more deals on the spot rather than asking people to send them an email, people could forget or just found it ‘long’, but that’s just me anyways.

My second discovery will be up tomorrow, so make sure you check back!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

As promised in my earlier post this week, I am bringing back the main reason why I started this blog years ago, to share with you guys various beauty salons, stores and establishments around Lagos.

I love to see businesses thrive and grow, Beauty Kink is one of our listed vendors on The BiL Directory. They started off as an online store with clear goals in mind and have now opened their own ‘mortar-and-brick’ location. I went visiting over the weekend to bring you guys some visuals of the store.

I love how simple and fuss-free the layout is. It’s all about the makeup and it’s all laid-out within easy reach. It’s definitely ‘Makeup Heaven’ in there. They’ve also got testers for customers to try before they buy and you can also go in to get your makeup professionally done if you’ve got an event or something.

Beauty Kink Store
Davida Mall (opp. Ebeano Supermarket)
Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
10am – 6pm

Beauty Kink is one of our sponsors for the next BiL MES Masterclass. They have purchased two seats for the class and will be giving both away on Instagram today. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled on my page for the giveaway rules!

Hallo and TGIF!!

There seems to be a lot going on in BiL world these days, it’s insane. So I’ve got this pink notebook where I jot down all my ideas and projects, I call it my ‘BiL Ideas & Projects’ notebook, we’ll just nickname it ‘BiP’. I am extremely forgetful it’s ridiculous, I can walk into a room and forget immediately why I am there. It might sound comical, but it really was a problem at one point but I am getting much better now and one of the things that’s helped me is writing things down. Anyway, so back to my original story… So in this BiP notebook there’s lots of ideas and stuff, including a ‘projects list’ and I am steady working my way through them, one of which I’m getting set to launch next week…. BiL Master Educator Series

The main idea behind this project is for professionals in various industries to share their knowledge. I truly believe that giving is far more rewarding than receiving. And the thing is, when you give, you are actually receiving a lot more than you even realize.

I follow a LOT of makeup artists, entrepreneurs and creatives on Instagram, I tend to scroll through their comments from time to time and the thing that strikes me the most is the number of people asking to learn ”how they did this” or ”how they did that” or ”I wish I could do that too”. People just generally want to learn, and they want to learn from people they believe know their stuff….. the people they look up to.

BiL Master Educator Series offers the opportunity for EVERYONE to learn from seasoned professionals at a fraction of the cost. I believe knowledge is power, and you can never get enough… One should never stop learning. On this project I decided to partner-up with one of the biggest online beauty-stores in Nigeria and also a BiL Directory Vendor,  My MakeupNG. Tayo, the lady behind MyMakeupNg, is just as passionate as I am about this. She’s also a Makeup Artist and actually learned a few tricks of the trade from one of our Master Educators in the series. So she knows from a personal perspective, how extremely beneficial the series will be. The series is also an empowerment programme, knowledge truly is power and we want women who have an interest in learning/further developing skills in order to empower themselves financially to have an affordable avenue to do so. We are also going to be working with a number of NGOs to offer free seats to a number of women who may be unable to afford the fees for a class. Our key strategy is affordability, most of these professionals charge fees that could make your eyes water, and if I’m being honest they are indeed charging their worth! But not everyone can afford that, so we’ve asked them to give just 2hours of their time and offer their services at a hugely discounted rate…. and they’ve said yes!

The series will run master classes nationwide, starting with Lagos. There will be master classes taught by renowned professionals in the following areas:

  • Makeup Artistry
  • Hair Styling/Hair Care
  • Photography
  • Manicure/Nail Techniques
  • Employable Skills Training(Bead Making, Organic/Natural product formulation, etc.)
  • Brand Marketing & Social Media Management
  • Blogging
  • Beauty Retail
We will be kicking off the series with Makeup Artistry! No surprises there I’m sure..

These are our very first set of Makeup Master Educators! I cannot put into words how grateful I am to these ladies for coming onboard this project! This is the first round of Makeup Artists, wait till you see who we have on the roster next year! There will be one Makeup Master Class taught each month by a different Master Educator (ME), starting this month!. Each class will be unique as it is tailored towards the ME’s key strengths.

Celebrity Makeup Artist, Joyce Jacob, kicks off the series next week Tuesday, 25th of August!

Venue: A White Space
Address: 58 Raymond Njoku Street, off Awolowo Road, Ikoyi Lagos
Time: 12noon PROMPT
Fee: NGN5,000

If you are interested in signing up for a Master Class with Joyce please send an email to MasterEducatorSeries@gmail.com or call 08182910730 and you will be furnished with information on how to pay.

Seats are very limited as we are only allowed a certain number of people in the venue, so your space will only be reserved after payment is received.

Really did not want this post to be a lengthy one but I wanted to share as much as I can about this! If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter this won’t be news to you, but the exact details about the series will be new info.

Thanks for your continued support, without readers there’ll be no BiL so I am always grateful for this my little spot on the internet that you choose to visit! 🙂 Hope to see you all sign-up for the series, we are also working on our website and I will be sure to share the link once it goes live!

Have an awesome weekend!

Hi Everyone,

MAC release quite a few collections every year, I’m talking like well over 10 or something. ‘Wash & Dry’ is one of such collections released this year, and is inspired by bright and fresh hues which are very evident in the products, as well as the packaging.

One thing I love about MAC and their collections is the limited edition packaging! They veer away from their usual black coloured packaging, which makes the limited edition stuff something of a ‘collector’s item’. I know people who get collection releases just for the packaging…

Wash & Dry Collection comprises of products for eyes, lips and face. I’m talking, Lipsticks, Lipglasses, TechnaKohl liners, Waterproof False Lashes, Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trios, and lots more. I got 2 items in the collection, as well as 2 other products; 1 from their permanent line and the other from a previous collection. Sharing them all today, incase one of guys was thinking of picking up something from MAC here in Nigeria and didn’t know what to get. You can call me your ‘enabler’ haha!

MAC Highlight Powder ‘Freshen Up’ – N6,500*

This seemed to be the ‘star’ product from the collection. I got these products a week ago and shared them on my instagram page and got the same reaction as well! By the way, if you are on instagram you should be following me, I share a lot of stuff on instagram first before it even hits the blog. It’s just easier to share a picture than type up an actual post. Not saying I neglect the blog, just that I share a lot of ‘firsts’ on Instagram, Username: @BeautyInLagos.

I swatched all three shades separately, to give you an idea of what sort of colours you will be working with. But all three go beautifully together, adding colour as well as highlight to the cheeks.

MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio ‘Warm Wash’ – N6,000*

I absolutely LOVE this shadow trio! That gold colour in the middle is my favourite! I used this every single day since I got up until yesterday. It’s sparkly, but it’s the perfect ‘daytime’ sparkle. The one that’s also ‘office acceptable’. Only issue is the packaging, the shadow slots are very narrow so you would need to use a small brush to get the product out. Lucky for me, I had one of such brushes so it wasn’t a problem. There is a bit of fallout with these, so I will advise you tap off the excess before you apply to your lids and also pat the product on, as opposed to ‘wiping’. This will reduce the fallout.

Look at the sparkle in those swatches, especially the gold one in the middle!

MAC Cremesheen Glass ‘Japanese Spring’ – N5,500*

This gloss is very sheer, it’s a pale pink tone that just adds some milky glossiness to the lips. It’s best for layering over any nude lipsticks you may have in your collection. I personally love to layer it over MAC’s ‘Creme Cup’! It’s a limited edition gloss that was repromoted as part of the ‘Tropical Taboo Collection’.

MAC Amplified Crème Lipstick ‘Diva-ish’ – N5,500*

This lipstick is part of their Amplified range so the colour pops, and is very wearable as you will see in the swatch below.

That’s all my goodies! Let me know if you will be picking up anything from the ‘Wash & Dry’ collection, you can tag me in on instagram or leave a comment under this post.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
