I get quite a few emails asking why I don’t feature beauty spots/stores located on the mainland or do I only feature places I like and the funniest of all, why is it that I only feature my friend’s businesses. First off, I WISH all the businesses I’ve featured so far were owned by my friends, can you imagine the perks? But on a serious note, I love to get feedback about posts and these emails got me thinking about 2 things:
  1. Perhaps these people are new to my blog
  2. I definitely need to discover a lot more places

To address point number 1, For the sake of the possible newbies let me take you all a little ways down memory lane and the reason why I started this blog. I started Beauty In Lagos because I wanted to share all that Lagos had to offer in terms of beauty, I wanted to share the then budding beauty industry and all I discovered with as many people as possible. I have featured quite a few locations on the mainland since I started BiL, yes they may not be recent posts, but I have done so. Now I see the industry has grown and there are a LOT more businesses around than when I started so I need some help. Which brings me to address point number 2. I need you guys! I need you, my lovely readers, to start giving me some recommendations of spots that I could visit. Tweet me, send me an Instagram message, hit me up on Facebook, or simply Email me. If there is a makeup store you recently discovered in your area, or a salon that offers great service, whatever it may be, please let me know so I can share! There may be someone who lives in your area and has no idea about this great salon you go to. You can’t imagine the emails/comments I get from readers thanking me for sharing a store because they’d been searching for a particular product for ages, and had concluded they couldn’t find it in Nigeria until they read a certain ‘Out and About’ post.
Also Business Owners, please don’t be shy I know how difficult it is to get the word out about your business, and I really want to do my bit by sharing it. If you would like me to come visit your space and be featured in the Out and About series, please send me an email. Being featured on ‘Out and About’ comes with a few added extras, so please get in touch to find out more.

I am quite excited to share this Out and About post, because this salon is absolutely gorgeous! With state-of-the-art equipment and fittings, once inside, you will without a doubt feel like you’ve stepped into luxury. I am all about aesthetics, and I honestly do appreciate the fact that the brains behind this space isn’t only focused on providing world-class service, but also understands that the space is just as important. I also loved the fact the space was nice and clean, everything in it’s place! This shoot was completely impromptu, so it’s safe to assume this is the level of cleanliness maintained at this salon, impressive! Have a look at the pictures and let me know, in the comments section, if you mirror my sentiments.

I am so pleased that this is the standard of the salon located in one of the most prestigious hotels in West Africa. It definitely gives a positive first impression to ‘out-of-towners’!

The Lash Lounge offers semi-permanent lash extensions, located in the heart of Lekki Phase 1. For anyone curious about lash extensions, I am working on a post which I hope will answer all your questions. I’ll be talking, as always, from a personal point of view, from how long they last to how I care for them. That post will be up next week! The Lash Lounge is where I get my lashes done and since I always mention them on instagram, I thought why not share some pictures of their space as part of my ‘Out and About’ series. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

This is the first actual typed-out post on BiL for the year! I decided to take an unannounced hiatus right after the Beauty Party…Which was a hit, by the way, thanks to everyone who attended and the vendors that took part! It wasn’t complete radio silence, I updated my social media (snapchat & instagram) fairly frequently. Hope you’ve all have had a great start to the New Year so far, and I wish you nothing but success, peace, joy and love in 2016!

Refinery Beauty Lounge is a nail salon located in Victoria Island, Lagos. I also hosted the first ever ‘Manicures with Ez’ nail-party here and it was such a huge hit with everyone. Manicures with Ez, in a nutshell, is basically my way of bringing Manicure Mondays to ‘life’, in a sense. I will share more about this very soon and get excited because my guests to the parties will be you guys!

Enjoy the pictures of this stunning space!

Tucked away in the heart of Victoria Island is this stunning beauty spot I can only describe as a ‘Tranquil Haven’. As soon as you step in through the doors you are immediately aware that Oriki is a luxury brand. I attended their launch event last month and could not wait to go back in and get some pictures to share on the blog. Oriki is an indigenous luxury skincare brand that fuses natural ingredients and scientific research to create their products. Their range of products are designed for both men and women targeting different skin-types, including mature skin. Their 32 product-range covers hair, skin and body. They also have a spa, hair salon and men’s grooming parlour all in the same building. One thing I noticed was how calm and relaxed I felt while exploring their space and taking pictures, definitely going back to try out their services. Enjoy the pictures!

I will admit, I wasn’t much of a Clinique consumer until I purchased ‘Take The Day Off’ cleansing balm earlier in the year. I also attended a Clinique event last month where they tried their signature ‘Tape Test’ on me. If you have no idea what that is, don’t worry you aren’t alone because, up until the test was done I didn’t have a clue either. What they do is, they basically take the back of your hand, try out their cleansing products on it and the process begins with the tape test. They use a cellotape, stick it over your hand then take it off. This process they say lifts dead skin, which are not obvious to the naked eye, but they say it’s on there. Then they proceed to use their products with the message that in order for your skin treatments or moisturizes to work you must cleanse, exfoliate and then treat/moisturize. Which I truly believe because, how well can your moisturizer absorb if the surface of your skin isn’t cleansed of all the gunk and grime. When she cleansed and exfoliated the back of my hand, the moisturizer absorbed better than when she applied the same amount of moisturizer to my other hand where it just sat on my skin.

Also, for those that were curious about the bottles numbered 1-4, those are exfoliating toners and the different numbers represent different skintypes: normal, sensitive, oily etc. I thought they were steps for cleansing, and I’m sure I was not alone with that assumption.

Anyway, this post is to inform you all that you can now purchase Clinique products in the beauty room at The Nail Studio. This brings it to 2 different locations where you can buy genuine Clinique products in Nigeria, other one being Montaigne Place. Enjoy the pictures and I’ve got prices of some popular products at the end of this post.
