If you’ve ever asked me for hair advice, the first question I probably asked you is: do you deep condition? And if you said no, the next thing I probably told you was: you need to deep condition. Deep conditioning is ESSENTIAL to healthy hair. One thing I always say is that, if you do nothing else, make sure you deep condition. We all know moisture is KEY to healthy hair and deep conditioning really allows the moisture to get deeper into the strand. There are a million and one deep conditioners out there and I have many favourites but here are my top 5 at the moment:

1). Natural Nigerian Moisturising Deep Conditioning Treatment

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I raved about this deep conditioner. It’s a Nigerian brand, which makes it very handy, and I can assure you that the owner of Natural Nigerian knows what she’s doing. The ingredients in here are healthy, beneficial ingredients and it leaves the hair so soft and defined as well as strengthened.

2). Nubian Roots Deep Conditioner

I came across this one at Medplus one random day and I loveddd it. It has so much slip, which means it’s very easy to detangle with it, and it is VERY moisturising. It is very light so I wasn’t expecting it to be so moisturising on my very thick hair but it really was. It left my hair soft and my curls defined. I think a big part of that is that it contains aloe vera and shea butter, both of which are excellent for softening hair.

3). Shea Moisture Manuka Honey

This one is an OG fave of mine. It’s probably one of the first deep conditioners I used and it gets the job done. It is thick enough to coat the strands but not so thick that it leaves the hair weighed down after rinsing. It is consistent so my hair always feel soft and hydrated after I use it.

4). Mane Choice Green Tea & Carrot Deep Strengthening & Restorative Mask Treatment

I didn’t expect to love this one as much as I do but this is a winner. It’s not cheap but you get value for money because this one does what it says on the tube. It truly strengthens and truly moisturises. It is quite rare to find deep conditioners that strengthen as much as they hydrate and this one does. It is also one of the few deep conditioners that you can actually detangle with. If you want to invest in something, get this!

5). Pantene Gold Series Repairing Hair Mask

You don’t have to have a Beyoncé budget to take care of your hair. That’s where this comes in. From what I read, this line of products was formulated specifically for afro type hair (natural and relaxed). I REALLY like this deep conditioner! It left my hair like candy floss – soft and bouncy. My hair was defined, it was easy to work through the hair and it is affordable!

Ultimately, you don’t have to use these exact products! They are suggestions. As long as you are deep conditioning one way or another, all is well!
