For the longest time, I felt like the queen of large facial pores because my cheeks were plagued with large pores that could be seen, even when I wore foundation.

In my quest for smooth poreless facial skin, I stumbled upon DECIEM’s NIOD FLAVANONE MUD (FM). According to DECIEM’s website, the FM masque is a three phase rinse-off decongestion system that disrupts neither the skin surface equilibrium nor its density.

It is available in two different sizes; 50ml and 100ml. Both sizes are enclosed in a thick black cardboard box, however the 100ml comes in a silver-colored tube while the 50ml comes in an opaque glass jar. On DECIEM’s website, the 50ml retails for $45USD and the 100ml retails for $69USD.

I got the smaller size as it was slightly cheaper and being a first time user, the sensible thing was to buy the smaller quantity.

The texture of this mud masque is thick and a little oily. I applied a thin spread all over my face using a wooden applicator stick, staying clear of my eye region, waited a few minutes and washed it off. My face felt no different than it did before I applied the mask, but the next day I interestingly took a look in the mirror and ‘oh my Gawd’, my pores had completely shrunk, my face was smoother and I noticed a great improvement in the next couple of days. I know you are wondering how often I use this mask, I use it once a week but for a first-time use apply once daily for 5 days in a row and once a week thereafter for maintenance.

I had read reviews online before purchasing this product and most people talked about the stinging sensation on the face after washing it off. I have to be honest, on my first application, I felt no sting whatsoever, and I wondered if I got a faulty batch or if my skin was tough enough to withstand it. Ironically, after using it for about two weeks, it started to sting when I applied it. So in case you purchase this product and notice no stinging sensation on your first application, do not fret because everyone’s experience is different.

If you do experience a stinging sensation, here are a few things you can do to minimize it:

  • Apply on a completely dry face; it would sting as hell if your face is wet.
  • Do not leave it on longer than 10 minutes.
  • Do not use physical exfoliators before this masque.
  • I would advise you to use a moisturizer after this masque, instead of a toner. My face didn’t like it when I used a glycolic toner, I felt like it was on fire.
  • Lastly, if you have sensitive skin, please use it with caution.

Was this masque a good buy? It definitely was, and I would advise anyone with large pores to get it.
