Hi, my name is Ez and I am the Founder of BeautyInLagos. 10 years ago I worked as a Sales Administrator at a multinational oil-servicing company and I was MISERABLE! I had just moved back to Lagos, from London 2years prior and I honestly did not have a clue what to do with my life. Whilst sat at my work desk I stumbled upon a website, it was a beauty blog, and from that point on I went down a rabbit-hole of beauty blogs. Day after day, I’d go in to work and spend my lunchtime and every free minute reading beauty blogs. After a year of consuming so much beauty content, I decided I wanted to start a blog of my own and on the 11th of January 2012, I bit the bullet and hit ‘publish’ on my first ever draft post: Hey Everyone

Famous last words in that inaugural post were: “So here’s PRAYING I keep at this and ENJOY it as I go along!” And ‘keep at it’ I sure did!

I did not have a vision or growth plan for the blog, all I knew was I’d found my passion, after years of feeling lost, which was ‘Beauty’, and I wanted to share all I knew & discovered about beauty in the city of Lagos. I was so insecure and unsure of myself at the time, that I just did not share pictures of my face or any information about my personal life. I decided to be anonymous, it was just how I felt comfortable sharing on the internet. Originally what I intended for BiL was for it to be a sort of directory, but I thought in order for people to trust the places I list, they need to know and trust me first. So I decided to blog about places instead and share why I’d recommend them. Then 2years later, in March 2014, I finally launched the Directory, to list certified beauty brands and businesses, in Nigeria, you can trust . I called it The BiL Directory at the time, but a few years later changed it to BeautyDirectoryNG.

Can’t tell you I had a 5 year, let alone 10 year, plan for BiL when I started, but I knew I’d found my passion; and your passion will always lead you to your purpose. Now, 10years in, my passion has evolved into a Beauty Resource & Consultancy with a Vision to be the Global Voice for Beauty and Wellness on the African continent, Amplify the Beauty Industry in Africa and help Beauty Brands grow.

I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come, but it honestly feels like we’re only just getting started. Do I feel like I’ve found my purpose? Honestly No, but I know I’m walking in it.

I finally feel like I’ve laid a solid foundation and the next chapter is to build & expand
If you’ve been with me from the start, THANK YOU for sticking by through all the iterations, twists & turns, confusion and breakdowns! None of which I ever shared, but all of which nearly took me TF out! But I’m still standing, BiL is still standing and we’re just getting started!

We are going to be celebrating all year long with different activations, pop-ups, collaborations, rounding it all off with the ULTIMATE BEAUTY PARTY! We will be sure to keep you in the loop!
