Do you look at the BiL #ManicureMondays posts and wish those were your hands? Yup…we all do.  The hands just like the neck never lie. No matter how well your face ages, your hands are always a true reflection of your age. However, many of us neglect this part of our body in our skincare routine.

To get smooth and youthful hands, here are a few tips

  1. Don’t wash your hands in boiling hot water or use boiling hot water. If you must in the kitchen or for laundry, use those heavy duty gloves
  2. Always moisturize after washing your hands
  3. Don’t bleach your skin (I think this tip applies to anything skincare related) as it dries out your hands and leaves you with dark knuckles
  4. I know we are in a pandemic but handwashing over alcohol-laden sanitizers except you have no choice (see No. 2)
  5. Find out if you have a medical condition like hand eczema and get treatment for it.
  6. You may also need a chemical peel for severe pigmentation.
  7. Apply sunscreen

Usually, when you apply your skincare products to your face, the leftover on your hands is enough but add on more if you are extra dry.

Some of my favourite products for the hands: Garnier hand cream for extra dry hands, any body scrub, Vaseline, cerave healing ointment, Aquaphor healing ointment, body butter(the Fenty and BodyShop ones are favourites), double base, Elizabeth Arden hand cream, Earth from Earth hand Balm and of course the Mary Kay Satin Hands trio.

Dakore Beauty ‘Revive Plug’ sugar-based body scrub

Once a week, use a scrub and rinse off. While your hands are still damp, apply a moisturizer and a sealant (Vaseline, A313, Cerave or Aquaphor healing ointment)

Bear in mind that getting your hands to where you want t to be will take time. In skincare, there are no shortcuts or quick fixes.

So, tell me…how do you take care of your hands? What are your favourite hand products?
