Hi Guys, apologies for the silence on the blog the past month, I have been so distracted by a lot of projects, ideas, business plans that my creative juices literally stopped flowing. But in the next few posts I plan on bringing you all up to speed on everything: from my skin going crazy, to my nails just deciding they’d had enough and also that I am now #TeamNatural. There’s a lot to share and I will start off with this post talking about new products that I have added to my skincare routine.
When I started blogging, I literally would try out any and every skincare product, and my skin could take it…. or so I thought. Fast forward to mid-last year when I mistakenly used an expired makeup product on my face and it’s just been downhill from there. Then I had these extremely painful stress pimples towards the end of the year as well, so my skin has pretty much been in recovery mode since the start of 2017. Which is why I haven’t really shared as many makeup looks as I used to, or even talked much about skincare because I have just been trying to figure it all out. I still am to be honest, and I am also very very careful what skincare products I now use. But clearly I am not careful enough, because I had a mini breakout just a week ago after trying out a serum someone raved about…lol. See why I don’t like talking about skincare and products, even I can’t seem to get it right.
OBVIOUSLY, I am a now lot more cautious when it comes to skincare products, I may even go as far as saying I am not willing to try anything new at this point. These products by Clarins are for the body, so I was willing to try them out. I recently attended a ‘Bare Beauty with Clarins’ event put together by the Beauty Bar and we were taken through a few products in the Clarins range.
Regular readers will know that I am a huge EXFOLIATION advocate. You MUST exfoliate your skin at least twice a week, to get rid of the dead skin and also remember to wear SPF daily (how I exfoliate). I typically use loose scrubs because I think they are more effective and I don’t have to deal with the ‘film’ left behind when you use cream/gel based scrubs. However, I am just not a huge fan of the mess that comes with using loose scrubs. If I currently had the bathroom/shower of my dreams, they wont be a problem, but right now, with my current situation (bathroom) they just aren’t convenient. This scrub by Clarins is the perfect balance, I apply to wet skin work it in all over and then I go over it with soapy exfoliating mitts. I am definitely loving this scrub and with my method, there’s not a ‘film’ in sight.
This is currently my all-over-body moisturiser, it’s light and melts nicely into the skin. I especially love the fact that it’s got SPF20 in it, I’d been using a body lotion with SPF50 just on the parts of my body that get the most exposure to the sun i.e. my arms, my shoulders, my décolletage and my neck and then some regular body-butter (from Bath & Body Works) over the rest of my body. But now I use this Brightening Body Veil all over my body and then still layer my SPF50 lotion over my arms, neck and decolletage. I will share more about the SPF50 lotion and my sun-blocking combination in another post.

7 years agoTotally love the hydra- matte lotion, which I currently use as a step three after washing my face with the gentle foaming cleanser. IG: @Edirin
As an aside: Have you tried diet to fix your skin break outs? Diary and gluten elimination along with staying off new products till your skin settles down. I’m currently on the whole 30 and it’s working like magic.
ALSO: If you find out why your nails have had enough, please let me know, mine just started unusually breaking (and they are about your length- so much confuse) so I had to cut them because- Tired.

7 years agoI’d really like to try out the Clarins Bright Plus HP Intensive Brightening Smoothing Serum, because keeping up with my 10 month old and his penchant for throwing night parties has taken its toll on my face. I don’t know where to begin with a new skincare routine, so I might as well start with what I’ve heard is a great brand. Welcome back!! @senamihotonu

7 years agoWelcome back!! I’d really like to try the Clarins Bright Plus HP Intensive Brightening Smoothing Serum. Keeping up with my 10 month old and his aversion to sleeping at night has left my face a little less “bright”. I’d like to attempt to have some sort of a skin care routine again and this seems like a good product to start again with. Thank you! @senamihotonu

7 years agoHi, I’ve been using the Clarins Sayin smooth body lotion on my body and also the brightening hydrating day lotion spf20 on my face and arms for a year and some months. These products are my Holy Grail. I previously used a product that caused my skin to turn darker and I had a lot of black spots on my arms. I’ve noticed the black spots have reduced drastically and are less prominent this is a big relief to me. @Onweni_A x
