So here’s the thing, I strongly believe that information is power. And accurate information shouldn’t be a privilege for some, but accessible to EVERYONE. To this end we should all be well-informed before we jump on ANY bandwagon. Current ‘bandwagon’ in focus… Laser Hair Removal. Not sure how it works everywhere else in the world, but in Nigeria once something new gets popular, EVERYONE jumps on the bandwagon. Which is why I think it is very important I publish this short series of posts about laser hair removal.

I am no expert, but following on from my earlier post last month about laser hair removal ( you can read it here), I thought to share some more information I culled from another thread an EXPERT published on twitter. So everyone’s getting laser, but is it for you? Here’s part 1, of the 10 Reasons Why You Cannot Get Laser Hair Removal:

  1. You cannot get laser if you are pregnant
  2. You cannot get laser if you have an auto immune disease
  3. You cannot get laser on irregular pigmentation or raised warts, growths or moles.
  4. You cannot get laser if you have a very dark tan
  5. You cannot get laser if you’ve had sun exposure in the past 4 weeks.
  6. You cannot get laser if you’re on antibiotics or any other photosensitive drugs. You need to be off antibiotics for at least 2 weeks.
  7. You cannot get laser if you have self tanner. The laser won’t know the difference between real tan & fake tan.
  8. You cannot get laser if you have a disease that is stimulated by light. Ex: epilepsy, seizures
  9. You cannot get laser if you have Type 1 diabetes. You may be able to get laser if you have Type 2, but check with your doctor first.
    You cannot get laser if you have cancer or on radiation/chemotherapy. You need to be off chemo for at least 1 year.
  10. You cannot get laser if you’re on Accutane. Wait 6 months.
