This was a question I set-out to answer for myself last year, and…. Yes it does!

In this post I’m going to share with you my Laser Hair Removal Journey and where my hair growth is now, after 5 months of consistent appointments.

To give you have an idea of the frequency at which my hair grows back, let me start off by telling you what hair removal looked like for me, prior to Laser. I used shave my legs weekly, get my underarms waxed every fortnight, bikini & fore-arms waxed once a month.

I started my full-body LHR journey with Skye Aesthetics on the 7th of December 2021, and since then have noticed more and more reduction in my hair growth as the months have gone by. Month on month they slowly increased the time intervals between my appointments. I started off at 3weeks after my 1st & 2nd appointments, then 4weeks after my 3rd, and 6weeks after my 4th. So far I’ve had 4 consistent sessions with Skye Aesthetics and with each increment, have seen my hair growth reduce significantly. I have never had to wax my under-ams since I started my journey. This is significant, for someone who needed to get waxed every other week, I can now comfortably go 5weeks at a stretch.

Currently, I’m at 6-week intervals between appointments, and it’s just at the end of the 5th week that the hair-regrowth becomes visible. My last appointment I pushed it to 7 weeks, and I’ve got a picture of what my re-growth looked like below.

So far I can honestly say that LHR has reduced the frequency at which my hair grows, as well as the amount that grows. Also the texture of the hair that grows back is a lot ‘finer’ than it was, you can barely see it. Have a look at the pictures below of my underarms between sessions

3weeks after 2nd LHR Session
4weeks after 3rd LHR Session
7weeks after 4th LHR Session

You can see a lot more hair grew back at 7weeks and that’s because I was actually supposed to go in at 6weeks, but completely forgot I had an appointment. But still, that’s signifcant reduction after 7 weeks. Bear in mind, like I said, I was someone who needed to wax my underarms ever other week.

Also in terms of how painful LHR is, it really varies from machine to machine, and there’s also the fact that each person’s pain threshold is differs. I find my sessions with Skye Aesthetics virtually painless. My Laser Technician started off at a comfortable frequency and the gradually increased it during each session. She kept a log-book of my progress, so she knew what level to increase the frequency to at each appointment.

One last thing I must mention, with Laser Hair Removal (LHR), there are some things your skin will go through, that no one seems to talk about. For example, if you’re prone to ingrown hair then you know shaving is your skin’s worst nightmare. With LHR you’re required to shave right before, and the fact that you’re getting it done right after doesn’t exactly prevent you breaking-out. In fact, I had the WORST ingrown hair breakout ever. My laser technician did say it was fairly normal, and will begin to subside after a couple more sessions, which it has, but it’s not completely stopped. I share a few more “LHR ‘surprises’ no one talks about” in my this post.

Hope you enjoyed reading my review and if you’ve got any LHR questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
